The Digimon Survive Game Trailer Teases the Story, Characters, and Gameplay

On Thursday, Bandai Namco Entertainment began streaming a trailer for the Digimon Survive hybrid visual novel/tactical role-playing game. The following video provides a sneak peek at the game's characters, story, and gameplay:

The game will be released on July 28 for PlayStation 4 and Switch in Japan, and on July 29 for PS4, Switch, Xbox One, and PC via Steam worldwide.

The game was previously announced for release this year on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. The game will also work on the PlayStation 5 and the Xbox Series X|S.

The game was supposed to be released in the West in 2019, but it was pushed back to 2020. The game was then delayed from 2020 to 2021 "due to the effects of current world events," before being pushed back to this year.

Takuma Momosuka is abruptly transported to a dangerous other world teeming with vicious creatures in the game's plot. Takuma is a second-year junior high school student, and Agumon is his partner.

The game's conversational sections will look like anime scenes and will include 2D illustrations. The story's progression and evolution during battle will differ depending on the choices made by the players. The keys to the story are scattered around the field in the exploration sections of the game, and players will investigate various points of interest. In the battle parts of the game, players will participate in strategy game-style Digimon battles on grid-based fields. Actions will require energy, and players will need to manage its use to win.
