Retropolis Scratch Manga Revealed by Infamous Deadman Wonderland Mangaka Duo

On Thursday, the July issue of Kodansha's Bessatsu Shnen Magazine revealed that manga creator duo Jinsei Kataoka and Kazuma Kondou will release a new manga titled Retropolis Scratch in the August issue on July 7. The manga will be featured on the cover of Kodansha's August issue, and the first chapter will have an opening color page.

Tsukimichi Dri, a "Kyoto youth tattoo battle action" manga character, specializes in "running away." Instead of starting high school, he flees to Kyoto, where he discovers a great mystery, a mirror world in which right and left are flipped. Tattoo artists compete in a battle known as "Bokusenkon" in this world. Tsukimichi must now use his escape skills as his "best and worst" youth approaches.

In April, Kodansha's Days Neo website advertised a job opening for an assistant for a new manga by the duo.

The duo's most recent manga, Smokin' Parade, debuted in Kadokawa's Monthly Shnen Ace magazine in August 2015 and will conclude in April 2021. In July 2021, Kadokawa released the tenth and final volume. The manga will be published in English by Yen Press.

Kataoka and Kondou began their 13-volume Deadman Wonderland manga series in Monthly Shnen Ace in 2006 and finished it in July 2013. Before closing its North American publishing division in 2011, Tokyopop published the first five volumes of the manga.
