The augmented reality (AR) game Marvel World of Heroes is being developed by Niantic (Pokémon GO, Ingress) and Marvel Entertainment for release on mobile devices globally next year, it was announced on Friday during the Disney & Marvel Games Showcase at D23 Expo. The game will be released worldwide in 2023 and allow players to "build your own Super Hero persona and team-up with your favorite Marvel characters in the real world."

In July 2016, Niantic and The Pokémon Company International released the Pokémon GO app in a few nations, including the United States.

An anime adaption of the Ingress AR software from Niantic debuted in October 2018. In April 2019, Netflix launched the anime's global streaming service. The anime was licensed by Sentai Filmworks and made available on Blu-ray Disc on March 29.
