Did you grow up also watching the gratuitous violence that is Takashi Okazaki's Afro Samurai anime?
If so great news! Titan Comics has decided to specially release the director's cut of the manga sure to excite any Afro fans out there.
On July 26, the first volume of the director's cut edition will be released. A foreword by Okazaki will be included in the new version, as well as specially commissioned cover art.
The release is timed to coincide with the anime adaptation's 15th anniversary. It's available for pre-order on Amazon and Forbidden Planet, among other retailers.
The tale is described as follows by Titan Comics:
The story, set in a medieval futuristic Japan and inspired by Okazaki-love san's of hip hop music and American pop culture, follows a young Afro Samurai who watches his father, the wearer of the No.1 headband, being challenged and slain by the No.2 – a lethal gunslinger dubbed Justice. With a vow of vengeance, he embarks on a violent journey of vengeance that will eventually elevate him to the position of No. 2 warrior and culminate to a last dramatic confrontation with his father's killer.
The second Volume of the Director's cut will be released on October 4th, 2022
