Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island Film Earns 1.08 Billion Yen

-Cuz, who doesnt love giant robots!?-

The anime movie Mobile Suit Gundam: Cucuruz Doan's Island (Kid Senshi Gundam: Cucuruz Doan no Shima) has sold 550,000 tickets for 1.08 billion yen (about $7.79 million), according to Bandai Namco Filmworks on Tuesday.

On November 25, the movie will arrive on DVD and Blu-ray Disc at regular retail locations in Japan. (Since June, participating cinemas have been selling a limited-edition special Blu-ray Disc of the movie.)

The 15th episode of the original Mobile Suit Gundam television anime was the subject of the movie's first announcement. The actual episode has been deleted from the series' English releases.

On June 3, the movie had its Japanese premiere. In the first three days, about 200,000 tickets were sold for 400 million yen, or roughly $3.02 million.

The Federation is preparing to launch further offensives against Zeon's invasion headquarters in Odessa at the time the novel is set, following the Federation defense of Jaburo.

In order to refuel, Amuro and the White Base travel to Belfast. However, the White Base is given fresh orders to travel to the "Island of No Return" in order to look for and eliminate any remaining Zeon forces. When Amuro arrives on the island in quest of Zeon spies, he instead discovers a bunch of kids and a Zaku mobile suit. Amuro, who has lost the Gundam, comes upon a man by the name of Cucuruz Doan. Amuro makes an attempt to return to the Gundam to flee after learning the island's secret.

In addition to directing the movie and being credited with character designs alongside Atsushi Tamura (Weathering With You) and Tsukasa Kotobuki (Mobile Suit Gundam: The Origin, Saber Marionette), Yoshikazu Yasuhiko is the creator of the manga.
