Golden Kamuy is based on Satoru Noda's historical adventure manga, which is available from Shueisha. The first, second, and third seasons made their debuts in 2018, 2020, and 2021, respectively.
Shizutaka Sugahara, the director of Rin-ne, D-Frag!, and Grimms Notes: The Animation, is the new chief director of Golden Kamuy Season 4, which is produced by Brain's Base rather than Genos Studio like the previous seasons. Takumi Yamakawa, the character designer for To Your Eternity, In/Spectre, and Grimms Notes: The Animation, is a new member of the staff.
The Shueisha-published Golden Kamuy manga ran from 2014 to 2022, ending with 31 tankoubon volumes. It was serialized in Weekly Young Jump and is published under the Young Jump Comics label. Viz publishes the manga in English.
