Shinya Iino has been replaced as director of the special by Shhei Matsushita (DEEMO Memorial Keys) at returning studio TMS Entertainment. Yuichiro Kido will also return to write and oversee the series scripts, and Yuko Iwasa will serve as character designer.
The manga was published in Weekly Shonen Jump in March 2017 by Boichi (Sun-Ken Rock) and Riichirou Inagaki (author of Eyeshield 21) and ended on March 7. The manga is being published digitally and in print by Viz Media. The manga was also published digitally in English by MANGA Plus.
The manga's 26th and final volume will be released on July 4th. In August, a fanbook will be released in Japan.
The special will take place after the second season of the anime and will focus on Ryusui (voiced by Ryta Suzuki). Around the same time as the special, a new chapter of the manga will be released.
