The highly anticipated television adaptation of Makoto Akui's "Ao no Orchestra" manga will finally premiere on NHK Educational on April 9th, 5 PM JST. The news was announced by NHK on Wednesday.
"Ao no Orchestra" will be directed by the talented Seiji Kishi, known for his work on "Assassination Classroom" and "Persona 4 The Animation". The series will be written and overseen by Yuuko Kakihara, the mastermind behind "Chihayafuru" and "Digimon Adventure tri.", with character designs by Kazuaki Morita of "Assassination Classroom" and "Persona 4 The Animation". Jun Sakata, the production supervisor for "To Your Eternity", will serve as the chief producer for the anime. The role of the character Hajime Aono's violist will be played by Ryota Higashi.
The manga, published by Indonesian company Elex Media, follows the story of Hajime Aono, a former violin prodigy who gave up playing the instrument. But when he meets a girl who informs him of a high school with a renowned orchestra, the gears of his life start turning again. "Ao no Orchestra" is a tale of young people finding harmony between music and their souls.
