The crew of Anime NYC revealed on Tuesday that Hiromi Wakabayashi, Shigeto Koyama, and Sushio from Studio Trigger will be attending this year's convention.
At Gainax, Wakabayashi worked on the anime series Gurren Lagann and Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. Alongside Atsushi Nishigori and many other Gainax alumni, he also served as the assistant episode director for two episodes of the anime The IDOLM@STER. In 2011, Wakabayashi joined Studio Trigger. He created the script for Inferno Cop, served as the film's creative producer for Kill la Kill, and was credited with plot collaboration on the first two Little Witch Academia movies. He directed and storyboarded the anime's opening sequence as well as scripted a few episodes of Space Patrol Luluco. Wakabayashi was Promare's creative producer.
Before working at Studio Trigger, SUSHIO was a Gainax employee. He worked at Gainax as a key animator for several films, including Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt and Gurren Lagann. He worked at Trigger as the chief animator and character designer for Kill la Kill and the lead animator for Kiznaiver. He was a key animator for Trigger's anime movie PROMARE.
Koyama made his design debut with the anime Diebuster. Anime like Eureka Seven, Gurren Lagann, Moribito - Guardian of the Spirit, Heroman, Star Driver, Inferno Cop, Kill la Kill, Captain Earth, Gundam: Reconguista in G, Space Patrol Luluco, The Dragon Dentist, Napping Princess, DARLING in the FRANXX, and Dragon Pilot: Hisone and Masotan all featured his designs. For Trigger's SSSS.Gridman anime, Koyama created the character Alexis, and he also created Promare's mechanical and character designs.
Shuko Murase, the director of Gundam Hathaway, Akihiro Nishino, Mel Kishida, the designer of Blue Reflection, and Yoko Shimomura, the composer of Final Fantasy XV will all be present at the event.
The Javits Center will play host to Anime NYC this year from November 18–20.
