The television adaptation of the action role-playing game NieR:Automata from Square Enix and Platinum Games will air episode 4 on February 18, according to the official NieR:Automata Ver 1.1a Twitter account, which made the announcement on Sunday. The COVID-19 infection outbreak's negative effects on the anime's production timeline were mentioned as the reason for the episode's postponement since January 28.
The first three episodes of the anime were instead rebroadcast beginning on January 28.
The narrative of the game is as follows, according to Square Enix:
The androids 2B, 9S, and A2 fight to reclaim the machine-driven dystopia that has been taken over by strong machines in NieR:Automata.
Mechanical beings from another planet have expelled humanity from the Earth. The human resistance deploys a squad of android troops to destroy the invaders in a last-ditch bid to retake the planet. Currently, a conflict between robots and androids is raging. A conflict that might soon reveal a long-forgotten truth about the universe.
The anime is being directed by Ryouji Masuyama (Blend S, Hello WeGo!) at A-1 Pictures, and Masuyama is also in charge of the series composition alongside Yok Tar from the original game. The characters are being created by Jun Nakai, who is also the main animator. The music is being written by MONACA.
